GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES The Environmental Compliance Coordinator performs intermediate technical and administrative work in the design, plan review and inspection of development projects and enforces the City's FOG Ordinance and Program, Reporting to the Engineering Technician Manager, the Environmental Compliance Coordinator works under moderate supervision to assess work quality and production.

Typical Qualifications
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited community college with major course work in civil engineering technology, construction inspection, or related field.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Bilingual in Spanish. Possession of a Pretreatment Grade 1 Certification from North Carolina Pretreatment Certification Board or the ability to obtain within one year.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a valid NC Class C Drivers License. Demonstrated safe driving history.

- Reviews oil and grease trap calculations and plans, performs inspections, ensures compliance with the City's policies and procedures.
- Maintains FOG program files in accordance with State requirements.
- Coordinates and conducts FOG educational programs.
- Assists with pretreatment industrial monitoring as needed.
- Answers questions and provides information to the public.
- Investigates complaints and takes corrective action as necessary.
- Inspects contractor installations to ensure compliance with local, state and federal standards and approved plans.
- Manages the FOG software utilized by Kannapolis.
- Provide public outreach and training on what FOG is and its impacts.
- Responds to questions pertaining water and sewer availability, locations, backflow prevention and future installation locations; responds to calls concerning water, sewer, streets, stormwater, streetlights, and other infrastructure.
- Utilizes the City's GIS system.
- Performs related tasks as required.
Typical Qualifications
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- General knowledge of civil engineering practices, procedures and techniques.
- General knowledge of engineering maps and records.
- General knowledge of mathematics and trigonometry as applied to engineering calculations.
- General knowledge of computer aided drafting and geographic information system programs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Skill in the use of specialized engineering equipment.
- Ability to research land records.
- Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
- Ability to design plans for minor water and sewer extensions.
- Proficiency in Windows Outlook, Bluebeam, Accela, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, associates and the general public.
